What the Canadian Snowbirds & Your Digital Marketing Strategy have in common
I have always been fascinated by the Canadian Snowbirds. The strategy, training, trust, talent, and technology required to execute flawlessly with thousands of people watching is impressive to say the least. So when I look at this picture, naturally it reminds me of the necessary ingredients required for a digital marketing strategy to perform optimally.
There are 13 planes in the Snowbird fleet – 9 aerobatic performances, two solo aircraft, and two spares. Each pilot adds their individual expertise and effort at precisely the right time allowing every other pilot to do the same. Together they are a system relying on each other. If one falters, the whole system is thrown off.
There are 13 elements to a digital marketing strategy.
- Business Goals & Objectives
- Brand Understanding
- Persona Development
- Keyword Research
- Customer Journey Mapping
- Content Marketing Strategy
- Organic Search Strategy
- Social Media Strategy
- Advertising Strategy
- Marketing Math
- Email Marketing Strategy
- Analytics & Reporting
When each of these elements is understood, thoughtfully and strategically planned, and executed together the results are evident.
Over the course of the upcoming weeks I will dive into each of the 13 areas. (It will take me longer than 13 weeks, but I promise to get through it.) We’ll call it the Snowbird Series.
I will leave you with one of my favourite quotes, “marketing is about understanding human behaviour. It’s this simple. It’s this difficult.”
And remember, you can obtain a $15,000 grant from the Canadian Digital Adoption Program to work on your digital marketing strategy!
