Building Businesses at BUILDEX

This week we had the opportunity to exhibit at BUILDEX Vancouver, Western Canada’s largest trade show and conference for the Construction, Renovation, Architecture, Interior Design and Property Management industries. The show took place at the Vancouver Convention Centre, green-designed, state-of-the-art facility on the waterfront which was the perfect location for this event. This was RTOWN’s first time at the event and I think it is safe to say we will be back again next year.

A Packed House

Over the course of two days our team had some great conversations with small businesses discussing social media, websites, and digital marketing strategy. We had the chance to catch up with one our our awesome customers, Rhineland Cutlery, who were also exhibiting at the event. The show floor was full of inspiring and interesting products and companies that are clearly revolutionizing the construction industry. At RTOWN, we are extremely passionate about local business and communities, so it was really great to be in a room filled with businesses who are literally building these communities that we are working in. One of the most interesting and influential exhibits at the show was the Passive House Pavilion – a movement in home building dedicated to sustainability and energy efficiency. We definitely recommend checking it out here.

Getting Smarter

Our team was also able to expand their brains by attending a few seminars. We checked out Generation mYsunderstood put on by Eric Termuende, the Co-Founder of Gen Y Inc. The seminar touched on a topic that we are really passionate about at RTOWN, Millennials thriving in the workplace. Eric made some great points to a room that was looking at how they can pivot their companies cultures to be more attractive to Millenials, a generation that is currently 31% of the Canadian population, and will make up 75% of the workforce by 2025. We also checked out 6 Ways Effective Leaders Build Strong Teams put on by Randy Hnatko, CEO of Trainwest. The focus of this seminar was on how to improve our performance as leaders and how to have a greater impact on those in your organization. The biggest takeaways from this seminar was that good leaders don’t need to manage, they empower their team – which sounds a lot like our fearless leaders at RTOWN.

Overall, BUILDEX was a great experience for our team, the event was really successful, seeing over 14,000 attendees over two days. If you were there and would like to continue the conversation about your digital strategy, give us a call.
